German GROB manufactures horizontal 5-axis machining centers and GROB automation systems in a variety of sizes ranging from 1,600 mm to 1,500 mm in height and up to 800 x 800 mm. There are plenty of spindle options, a power output 100 kW, a torque up to 2,500 Nm and a spindle speed up to 30,000 rpm.
A new kind of freedom and dynamism
The exceptionally intelligent design in the GROB machining centers allows maximum freedom of movement, as well as high-sensitivity, reliability and precision in a very compact size. Three linear axis and two rotary axes (A = 225 and B = 360, which can also override) with simultaneous interpolation. In addition, the horizontal spindle provides excellent stiffness and the long Z-movement of the spindle allows the utilization of large tools without the reduction of the maximum workpiece size and the usage of small tools. The upside-down rotary table allows for superior chip removal in dry machining, as well as a quick disc-type tool changer for extremely fast tool change (2.7 s for chip to chip).
GROB's goal is to offer challenging work pieces the lowest cost per piece, new opportunities for designers, top quality work pieces and first-class service. Established in 1926, a turnover of approximately 1.3 billion euros and a family business employing 6,000 people are led by Christian Grob, a third-generation representative. The company has four factories located in Germany, USA, Brazil and China. GROB manufactures itself as far as possible regarding all machines and their automation solutions. The company offers machines from compact pallet automation solutions to large FM systems and automation of entire factories. GROB also invests heavily in software development and Industry 4.0 compliance.
Technology Center and 24h / 360d service
The headquarter and factory in Mindelheim, Germany, employs over 4,000 people and has a production area of approximately 155,000 m². There is also a technology center where customers can get acquainted with all machine models and most of the automation solutions. GROB has a team for customer cycling and test machining. The company's main customer base consists of aircraft and car factories, whose demands have raised not only the quality of the machines, but also the highest level of service. For example, for all customers, there is a 24-hour and year-round technical support that is always the responsibility of a technician who has remote access to the client's machine.
